The eight-episodes release of ‘Allo ‘Allo! The Complete Series Eight has been a great disappointment for the fans. Divided in two-disc, the DVD showcases the next phase of adventure of the barmaid groper/resistance fighter/ owner of the WWII French cafĂ©, Rene Artois as he evades the advances of Nazis occupiers and amorous barmaids. The entire series was a big disappointment in terms of inspired satire which defined the previous series. A fall in its quality and critical defection by the creative staff of the show worsens the whole experience of watching the series.
With its video shot in full frame DVD of ‘Allo ‘Allo! The Complete Series Eight had a video image of 1.33:1. Though the video image is quite soft and has infrequent wonky color, still overall it is quite satisfactory. When it comes to compression issues, there is nothing to speak about. The mono audio way of English 2.0 is also just sufficient for the ‘Allo ‘Allo! The Complete Series Eight. Option of close-caption with its misspelled wordplay is also very helpful, so do not miss it by any chance.
Talking about the extras, apart from the regular text bios for cast members, Comedy Connections from 2006 is another addition to the series. This is an episode of TV series that stretches for around 40 minutes. With interviews of cast and writers, the episode is a comprehensive rundown of the series. It is quite informative and may seem to be pleasing to you if you have been oblivious about the series and watching it for the first time.
Finally, the DVD of ‘Allo ‘Allo! The Complete Series Eight is a big disappointment for those who are looking forward to farcical ongoing in the Nouvion, but a serious departure in direction and writing team leaves the whole eighth series to be very unsatisfactory. So, the best way to go for fans is just to have a rental in order to stay acquainted with the addition to the series, but purchase is certainly not recommended.
